Hi All,

We have from time to time posted on the skp's forum about our problems in trying to get an aircard. We are Australain's and have tried on many occasions to get connected with an aircard. Yesterday we had to go to a Verizon store to fix a problem with our cell phone. We asked the lady about an aircard for non residents. She was sure she could get us one. We explained our previous problems. She called Verizon. No problems. We just needed a $400.00 security deposit. So we started the paper work. The young lady made two more calls to Verizon with questions. That's three phone calls all with different Verizon staff members. All agreed we could get a Verizon air card with a $400.00 security deposit. When it came time to set up the account a fourth phone call was made and the person simply refused to accept the account. No SSN no account. So 3 out of 4 Verizon staff accepted our situation. 1 didn't.
Verizon has a real problem letting their staff know what is and isn't allowed.

Well now back to WiFi Hot spots. Nothing changes and life goes on.

Bruce

Hi, my reply is a bit late but here goes.

As Brits we also had problems trying to get an air card, mobile phone etc without a SSN.

Finally managed to get a Sprint Aircard by paying a deposit of $150 at Sams Club Sprint desk in Clarkesville Tn. I am sure any other location couild do the same.

Not many people seem to talk about Sprint but we ahve been using it for 3 months now and it works fine unless we are really out in the sticks. In fact it is often better than the free WiFi networks offered by some campgrounds. An we got a special deal $50 off the first months rental of $60/month. Do need a 2 yuear contract though, but this was not a problem for us.

Hope you get fixed up OK.

Alan & Jenny
