I just got a 2ed D7000 Modem on E-bay for $60. There are more-

I have been with directway or hughes for 3 years. The first year was a nightmare but had no choice. After I changed birds and routers hings have been good. I work over the i-net so need to be on every day.
I just did a speed test, I have 5 other programs running on this computer. a packet phone that is always checking in and my windows notebook running. They are not all using the i-net at the time I check but some had to.
Here are the results.
Normaly it has been above 1G down and 100 up.
Nick, its nice to get a good installer who can help you get on the right bird for your use.

4 days off line. I do not like that, but I am on almost always.
BTW, Hughsnet has changed there FAP policy and I am very happy with it.

Used an verzion aircard in Sacramento and have never had such a fast connection. And, I have had T1's, Ether and everything in between that were not as fast as that day in Sacto.

Think it really depends on where you park and how bad you need on the i-net.

Going to past the above URL a little different here just to see if it works.

Nick ... I bought a use Datastorm for 2K and up graded the 6000 to a 7000 modem for $75 (from eBay). I'm getting way better speeds with the 7000 ... and it's greatg to just hit the button and 10 to 15 minutes you "ON"

We got our Verizon USB 720 modem and KR 1 router and free antenna yesterday from 3Gstore and WOW! Just hooked everything up and boom, on the net….

We have had Directway on a tripod for four years and have been very satisfied with it. The reason I wanted to try the wireless is the ease of setting up. Like Nick we never setup the Directway for a one or two day stop.

If this puppy works like most of the reports I have read, we will not be going back to Directway…

Tonight we are at a bus garage in Rantoul, Kansas. My cell phone was breaking up pretty bad when I tried to call soemone, and the USB 720 air card did not work when I plugged it directly into my desktop computer.

I switched to the extension that came with it and has two USB plugs, which allowed me to set it up higher on top of my printer. Then I had one bar of National Access and I'm online. Not nearly as fast as the Evdo areas, but again, with our Hughes tripod system we would not have bothered at all.

As soon as we get settled in someplace for a few days I'll be ordering the external antenna, amp and modem. I'll be calling Hughes this week to suspend or cancel my service.

Well... trying to read all this and..understand it... my... anyway, last winter we used Hughes net with a tri pod. Thinking of trying something else this winter. Plus !! we were ripped off with Bell Mobility in Canada.... so will go with Verizon I guess and try this air card stuff... But not sure how to begin, can we buy the verizon stuff at Walmart? Is Evdo pretty good with the uploads,? as we do a fair bit of that at night?. Where can we stop at at 3s store? Also, we tend to stay out in the BLM land ..i.e. Ajo etc..

If I were in your position I would go to 3G store dot com then call their 800 number to ask questions and possibly place the order. Geo
