Hi,

We're looking for a place near Vancouver, BC for our 40 ft. Tiffin motorhome for a little more than a week. We're on a tight buget so the cheaper the better. We can boondock quite well so full hookups are not necessary. We plan to be there next week. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Coney & Carrol Oldenburg

Vancouver is an expensive place, and I expect it's tough in any city to boondock with a 40 footer!

Having said that, we were there last November. the Walmart in Burnaby is good for a night or two however it's not a real level parking lot. Note that the signs say no overnight parking, but if you go to customer service, they will alert security and you'll be looked after.

And we stayed for 3 days at Boulevard Casino in Coquitlam.

Depends on how close you want to be. There is a parking lot in Surrey opposite the Home Depot. It is a bit scruffy, but free. Right across from the Sky Train Station. Now, please be advised, All areas in the vicinity of Vancouver and the lower mainland are not safe. You are well advised to use a good RV park well away from there and travel in to do your site seeing.
Aldergrove RV Park is only about 5 miles from the Lyndon crossing, clean and very peaceful. Use it and drive your toad into Vancouver.

Hi Coney & Carol, if you don't mind being a little ways out, there's an RV park sort of on the border between Surrey & Langley...I'm trying to remember the name of it...been a while since we were out that way...google it, Langley, Surrey, Fort Langley RV parks and it should come up. Its close to the main hwy and at the time family was there, the price wasn't bad. Otherwise, listen to Logjam...many areas are not safe....use your toad and drive in, don't take a chance. Happy travels

Hi Folks, Being from BC I find it a little frightening that people are saying Vancouver's a scary place. While there isn't much camping in the city, there is plenty on the outer limits in places like Surrey, Langley, Maple Ridge, Delta, Richmond, New Westminster and Burnaby. There's also a number of Provincial Parks nearby like Golden Ears. Prices go up the closer to the city you get. There is a park right in the city called Capilano RV Park, pricey but very convienient for a couple of nights. While I do recommend driving the toad in the city (more for parking issues), Vancouver is one of the safest cities I know of and I wouldn't have an issue parking my fifth wheel in most places. (yes there are some seedy areas I wouldn't want to park in) If you're not sure about an area ask someone in one of the businesses, they'll be honest with you. And there's always the Home Depot, Costco and WalMart parking lots as well as many Park and Ride lots around. Good luck and enjoy your trip. It's a great city and I'm sure you'll have a great time.
