Anyone know of a clean, safe, inexpensive RV Park or mobile home park that accepts RV's, in the Goodyear, AZ area?
I need a place to stay for about 2 weeks that has 50 amp service. Thanks jwalker Homebase is the Hills of East Tennessee Southern AZ in the summer...where the driving gloves of choice are oven mitts! Visit Our Geocaching Blog |

Greetings,
We have stayed at Destiny RV Resort (south of I-10 Exit 124 then west on Van Buren) which is a nice park with lots of resort amenities. We stayed there because we were stopping in to see friends camped there. See details at http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/Arizona/Goodyear.html About 40 miles west on I-10 from Goodyear is the "city" of Tonopah and Saddle Mountain RV Park. If you like being out a ways in the desert this is a nice park. We have stayed at it for a week and we have used it as an overnighter. We like it because it is out, but see what others have to say about the good and the bad of the park at http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/Arizona/Tonopah.html There are lots of RV parks in the west valley and at this time of the year the prices will be lower -- because the temps are higher. Hi JWalker
I'll be interested to see what you come up with. We are looking to stay there next spring for baseball spring training. We're Cleveland Indians fans and they're moving there next spring. Good Luck...I'll be lurking! Paul |

We have a daughter that lives in Avondale. There doesn't seem to be very many parks on that side of Phoenix.
we stayed @ Cotton Lane Rv. in Goodyear For us it worked because of less trafic to go to Avondale. We paid $161.21 for a week in April. take exit 124 off I-10 go south a couple blocks & then west on Van Buren park will be on right. There are not many trees so will be hot. they have a web site. There # is 1-888-907-7223 or 623-853-4000 If you go a little further up the road there is another park that has a gated entry. There might be less expensive places on east side of Phoenix in Mesa area. But traffic becomes heavier. If you go about an hr. north of Goodyear there is the Escapee park North Ranch in Congress by Wickenburg. The Hwy 303 to 60 was a good 2 lane hwy. North Ranch is a nice park. Hope this helps. The Phoenix area has been 100+ right now. I think the other park just west of Cotton Lane is the one Dream Hunters said Destiny RV This message has been edited. Hi Paul,
It is fun to see the Spring Training games. It is so much less for tickets. We go to the Mariners spring training in Surprise & we take a blanket & sit in the outfield grass area. Sometimes pay a little more & sit in the seats. What City are the Indians playing this Spring? Steve & Sandy Papillons Rhythm & Yoda 2008 Phaeton 40QDH DP 2005 Malibu Maxx toad |

Yes, it is; however, Destiny RV Resort isn't north of Cotton Lane RV Resort, it's directly west. When you take the Cotton Lane Exit (Exit #124), and go south and take a right-hand turn on Van Buren, you'll come to Cotton Lane RV Resort first...go a little farther west on Van Buren and you'll come to Destiny RV Resort. I agree with others, though...this isn't the time to be visiting the Phoenix area in an RV! Hot, hot, HOT!!! LindaH 2007 Excel Classic 30RKE 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 |

Hey Steve & Sandy
My understanding is the Indians are building a new complex in Goodyear. It is suppose to be quite a nice complex....already under construction! I'm excited just thinking about it (even though they aren't doing as well as expected this year....maybe next year). Maybe I'll see you at an Indians vs Mariners game :> |

jwalker, I don't know if this will work for you or not, but it could be worth a try. Get to I-10 and exit 115th Ave/AvondaleBlvd. Go north to McDowell Rd (1/4 mi) and turn left. About a half mile to the west, at, I think 120th or so Ave, you'll see a mobile home park on the south side of the street. There are actually 2 parks there, one is adjacent to the south, if I'm remembering correctly. One or both used to accept RVs.
If you see Marvin, he just looks scary. Cotton Ln RV park is fairly nice, but it might be pricier than you want to spend. Alternatively, if you head west on I-10 to Miller Rd, a few miles west of Goodyear in Buckeye, exit Miller road, turn south, turn east immediately south of the freeway entrance...in about a mile or so you'll see a sign for an RV park to the south about 1/4 mile. |

Just a few miles south of Goodyear/Avondale is a small metro type of park called Casey Abbot Recreation Area. If you go back the road into the park you will come to a post with a honor-box and envelopes to put your money in. Last time I was there it was $2.00. To just take a lok around you can drive right through without paying. Another mile back in there is a very nice little campground that is suitable for big rigs. I cannot tell you about hook-up services. Just beyond the turnoff to the campground is a rodeo corral. Take S. Bullard Ave. south from Rt. 85 about 4 miles and you're there. For some reason I always thought this was Maracopa County Park but either way it's kind of nice back in there.

Click on the camping link under Outdoor Activities on this site. Some of the parks have hookups.

Maricopa County Parks are nice. The one closest to Goodyear, where jwalker needs to be would be Estrella Mountain which has 7 first-come, first-served campsites with water and electric.
The next closest would probably be either be White Tank Mountain or Buckeye Hills, depending on where in Goodyear you have to be. The White Tank Mountain Regional Park offers 40 first-come, first-served sites, but has no hookups. Buckeye Hills has only "primitive camping," which probably means undesignated sites with, of course, no hookups. Since this isn't the time of year to be dry camping in the desert Southwest portions of Arizona, I can only recommend Estrella Mountain Regional Park if you want to make use of these nice parks. Thanks everyone. I have contacted Estrella and the lady there says they have some first come first served full hookup sites available this time of year.
They have a 14 day limit but I should'nt be there longer than that. jwalker Homebase is the Hills of East Tennessee Southern AZ in the summer...where the driving gloves of choice are oven mitts! Visit Our Geocaching Blog |

I like the Saddle Mountain RV Resort at Tonopah. At exit 94, it is a little farther west than it sounds like you want, but it is cheaper than most of the closer to Phoenix stuff. In case you are one of the worriers it is just a few miles north of the Palo Verde Nuclear power plant.
