Curious, does anyone use liquid oxygen in the RV? We have the AC concentrator and its a big box to haul around. Noisy and expensive when on the meter. The compact concentrators so far are attractive, but quite expensive. Is it safe or legal to carry liquid oxygen in the RV?

Steve, I would guess that it would be pretty hard for them to ban oxygen in small tanks. My use would require me to use the very large 220 CF welding type cylinders of breathing oxy. at a cost of about $70 per tank and I would need four of them a month just for sleeping. I Know you would not be able to carry those in an RV and Medicare would not pay for $280 a mo. for oxy. I as yet have not come up with a way to use the large oxy. generator that eats up 300 watts. I am hoping that two more Trojan L16-H batteries and another wind generator will do the trick. Those 8 batteries alone are $2500 and I would rather spend my money on something nice like a little beer.

Carl--They didn't specify if they would have connections or not so I just gave another side of it.
If we ever meet I'd share a couple of those little beers with ya! :>Wink

Don't know your question about liquid O2 as have tried to get tanks and O2 service provider was in another state and hadn't made the arrangements. However, I do have an O2 concentrator which purchased for under $1000 and it is an Respironics Everflo which is small and not as noisy as the bigger ones. Have not boondocked much but you may look into this concentrator which, if I remember right, you can get an adaptor for 12 volt. It is much cheaper than the other ones you mentioned. Take care and safe travels.

Thanks for the info on the Respironics at $617. This is not what I think of as a compact unit and the big issue is it runs 350 watts at 120AC. We have see units much smaller with 12 volt or 120 or even batteries but they cost a whole lot of $$. Still looking, I guess.

I do believe I will stick with my suitcase size 300 watt 31 lb. unit. That new Po xgn is only 6 lbs and uses only 35 watts, but I don't believe Medicare will ever pay $3500 for you to use that. It sure is small though.

I took delivery yesterday of the 188 lb. frozen oxygen tank. It holds the same as 850 one liter bottles of oxygen. I use two liters a min. and they come out every two weeks and refill it at no cost to me.

FWIW,
We have been carrying a large liquid O2 tank with us when we travel. The spec say it weighs 168#'s when full.It is a little strain to get it in the trailer. We purchased a smaller Devilbiss concentrater(115vAC).It only weights 36 lbs.The provider furnishes the large Invocare
unit.We leave that at home.Don't hardly boondock at all anymore.Use the liquid for the
Helios only and the concentrator at nite.
The small concentrator max's out at 3liter.So far that is enough.
We cannot get the liquid refilled at the place in NM.When it is out we drive to Safford,AZ and
get it filled.
I carry the liquid on the back of the truck now
and load it with a Spitz lift(Crane)
