Hubby and I were planning on doing some extended traveling this year but that plan had to be put on hold until next year while I go through cancer treatment. I can live with that and hope to be able to travel next year but wonder about follow up with my oncologist. I know the frequency will decrease with time but time is going too fast to put things on hold for too long once the treatments are completed.

I am wondering how anyone that may have to deal with regular check ups for whatever medical problem deals with this? Do you travel back to your original area to see the regular provider or do you see providers as you travel and take your medical information with you?
Thank you

I think you will find most of us go "home" once a year for doctors appointments.
After my radiation treatments I needed a CT scan every 4-6 months, and I was able to schedule them with other VA hospitals while we were traveling.
I'm sure your doctor could arrange for you to have the tests where ever you might be and forward the results back to him/her.
I wouldn't want to keep switching doctors.

Talk with your oncologist about what tests are needed. Simple blood tests are not a problem, they can done anywhere on the road and the results sent back to the Oncologist. CT Scans can usually be scheduled and the oncologist may have a friend who is in practice along your route who will see you for follow-up. And for yearly, we make a stop back with our internist for physicals, etc.

......The big problems are not the DOCTOR they are the insurance carrier and their trix.....X-rays can be sent over the internet[in HD] now along with the report and you can get follow-ups anywhere as long as the insurance company doesn't whine......good luck and God Bless...geofkaye
