If you missed MineLab in Gillette - they plan on being in Sedalia at the Escapade next year.

They said they really liked the Escapade this year and can't wait to come back.

Pat yourselves on the back SKPS!!!

my hubby loves to talk metal detectors. We are in Brenda AZ all winter(15 minutes east of Quartzsite) If you view our profile, you can go to hubbys web site for detectors. He also recommends treasure net for advice, and a few others. The ace 250 is an excellent machine, especially for coin hunting. Minelab is very popular, especially with gold prospectors, as we are. Its a fun hobby and offers you exercise to boot! Dona

I have wanted to get a metal detector for many years, but never lived in a place that would be a good place to use one. I now live on a remote N. Az. ranch. I have a 36 acre ranch and I want to seach for small meteors. I have a small chunk from Las Vegas and it looks like pure nickel like my nickel welding rods. I will follow the suggestions and links above and see if I can find a detector that will do the job and is at a price that I can afford.

Carl, it is nickel in the meterorite. hubby says any decent detector, like an Ace 250 set on all metal mode will find meteriotes. You will dig alot of trash, buts thats how you find them. They are also magnetic. Hope this helps.Dona

I did not know that they were magnetic. I may have to look some more. I am just on SS and a real small pension and although the Ace 250 looks like just what I need, $250 is a bunch of money for a toy. A toy being something that you do not have to have to live.

Carl,

I saw a show, probably on the history channel about a guy that searches for meteors and sells them. Some of them are worth some bucks. Might finance the purchase by selling the one you have. Just a thought.

Rex , I saw the same show, you did not think I was smart eneough to hunt for meteors on my own did you? I not only have my 36.1 acres but many hundreds of state land next to my ranch to search. I am getting a large lawn tractor from my brother in a few weeks and that should help cover more area. At age 73, I really do not feel up to all that walking throug rough desert.
