I have been fulltiming rving as well as fulltiming traveling in the rv for 5 years and stay at many Walmarts...I have yet to see any RVer "ruining" for the rest of us.

Sadly I have seen everything from chairs, slide outs, to grills in the lots. Not to mention the dog messes. We try to be as discrete as we can but there are always the arrogant Rver's. It is they, who cause the ordinances against the parking. We see them in casino lots, truck stops, etc. I think I will take pictures and post them. A picture is worth a few wordsSmile Good idea and maybe some here will recognize their rigsSmile

Oh, we have been doing this FT for 10 years. The peoples republic of California do have a lot of restrictions and we chose not to go through that state...leave it to the residentsSmile

I stayed in the Fresno Walmart for a few weeks in my truck camper with no problems--many others there as well...you didn't specifically state "Southern CA", but it certainly gets harder to find free camping the closer to LA you get...

I am sure a truck camper is less conspicuous than a motor home, but there are a bunch of hygene questions that, if answered, I am sure would fall into the catagory of "way too much information".

My reply was to your first version. I have not been south of LA in quite a few years although I did see two RVs in a Wal-Mart in San Bernardino and three more in one in Redlands just two years ago. But it has been two years since we were last there.

Good travelin !...............Kirk

I took this at a Super WalMart. Can you count how many RVs are in this parking lot? Three have already left...

I've heard that the Sacramento, Ca. Wal*Marts don't allow parking due to a city ordinance.

I have parked at the one in Elk Grove and one in Fresno with no problems.

.....I stopped at Wal-mart in Ft Myers on old 41.....bought $175.00 of food and other stuff for the week just before midnight.....nite guy came around and whinnied so I returned all the stuff and left....simple...."he with the gold- makes the rules" and I really don't care if it is city law or not. Customer Service _should_ Improve if you do this more often......while I don't fight city hall anymore since I lost the case in Fairfax-I just take the money and leave......why get upset?.....geofkaye

Stow it, I am curious about the Walmart picture you posted. I am guessing this is on the I10 corridor most likely Las Cruces. How close am I? I am pretty sure it isn't Deming. We should have a contest to guess but who could provide the prize and what could it be? I know a free nights camping at Walmart.

PS: I am guilty too. I would estimate about a dozen or so times over 10 years. Thank you Walmart I think I will spend some money at your stores. Please don't make me return the stuff in my trailer I bought from you as I won't have much left, never mind the groceries I bought and already ate.

Jim, Returning the groceries you already ate should make quite an impression!

Big Jim good guess, you get 2 weeks free at the Walmart of your choice or at a Walmart that will have you.

There are 12 RVs in the picture but like I said I had just missed 3 of them. No push outs, no bar-b-ques, no lawn chairs, no awnings were out. Everyone was to the rear of the lot. I saw at least 5 of the RVers either heading in or coming out with purchases, us included. We needed a quick one night stay and they took care of us....
