Not intending to be disrespectful in any way, but would the fuel on a Native American reservation be of the same quality as what you would buy off of the reservation? Would it be "marked" or "dyed" in any way that would cause problems driving with it off of the reservation should someone decide to inspect my fuel? Whether or not it's ULSD or not wouldn't matter to me as I drive an older truck.

I may be spending some time near a reservation over the next few years and it may be worth looking into if there are no quality issues.

Should I even ask whether there are legal issues?? (In other words, is that a HUGE can of worms best left undistrubed?)

Thanks for the thoughts.

Brian

P.S. I have Native American blood (great, great grandmother was full blooded) and I will repeat that I ask the above with no disrespect intended.

Brian,

We are at an Native American reservation now. They have a major truck stop here and there is no difference in their fuel than fuel you'd find anywhere else. I'd guess it would be the same country wide. Including all the reservations.

If there were problems then they'd be out of business in no time.

Yesterday the Flying J website showed diesel in Winslow, AZ for $4.66/gallon. Today it shows $4.57. Eloy was $4.65 and today it is $4.59. Is this a temporary dip or the start of a downturn?

I arrived in Caldwell, Idaho, on 5/20/08 and diesel at the Flying J was $4.539. Over the next week, the price rose to $4.739. I saw price increases twice a day on some days.

Thanks, HamRad,

The reservation that I was referring to is only a small one compared to some, the Choctaw Indians, Mississippi Band. I don't know if they sell fuel on the reservation but I'm gonna find out!

Interesting group, and I am looking forward to the possibility of spending a little more time with them.

And if they have cheaper fuel... so much the better!!

Nick, Crude Oil prices seem to have dropped off something like $7.00/bbl, give or take a little, over the past week and a half. It may be that investors are realizing that prices could give us a retracement or maybe a short term downturn, and that would be good for us all. A selloff would be a wonderful thing, especially if it translated to lower prices at the pump. I can't say I'm overly optomistic, but even if prices just leveled off, that would be a good thing compared to seeing them rising by $0.50/mo or more. We'll see.
