According to the IRS website, our check was supposed to be direct deposited into our checking account on May 16. A check of the account the following day indicated that it HAD indeed been deposited on May 16.
We just returned from a trip to FL (about 1700 miles roundtrip) driving a diesel-powered pickup truck, so everyone should have been able to guess where that stimulus check went. FlyingJ receieved the bulk of the check.

Got a letter. Says "Check coming!". Whoop-de-freakin'-do. (Well, I guess the USPS needs the work.) Why send out a letter like that, just send me the damn thing & stop pounding your back over it!

My check was supposed to be deposited automatically also in the first week........however, I later found out after a lot of digging that if you did your taxes online and filed for a direct deposit AND paid your tax preparation fee by having the fee deducted from your refund then you will NOT get your stimulus check direct deposit but you will get it my paper check in the mail. The reason for this is that in order to do the deduction from your refund the service has to set up a temporary account to recieve your refund then they deduct the fees then they send the rest to you. NOW....the IRS sends your stimulus check by direct deposit to this TEMPORARY ACCOUNT which by now does not exist anymore so the deposit bounces back to the IRS and then it is put in the paper check file. This is all on the IRS site now but it's not easily found or at least it wasn't a few weeks ago. I found the info on other forums then checked with the IRS site and dug around until I found it and confirmed this whole thing. Whew! it came at last and it didn't really matter to us since it just went in the account for now and I'll use it to pay off an old loan in a couple months.

We finally got our paper check in the bank on Weds. Got our letter dated May 19th that we'd be getting a check. Check was sent dated May 23rd and mail forwarding sent it to us in WV.

But since we have no local banks nearby, so had to send it to my daughter for deposit. Wish they could have done the Direct Deposit. They didn't have any problems taking money out back in April that we owed.

BTW: it was in such a flimsy envelope that didn't look very official, that I dropped it in the trash with some other junk mail. Luckily I was able to dig it out. Eek

We got ours this week and deposited it into the checking account. Will probably buy a HD TV and fill the bus fuel tank with the rest.

When you buy a television make absolutely sure it has a digital tuner or you'll also need to buy a converter box.

We will be volunteering at the CARE center until 12/15. If there is still an airline flying we plan on using our money to fly back to Pennsylvania to spend Xmas with our family.

Tom & Paula...be wear - by Christmas you might have to bring your own seat in order to fly on any air lines!!! Eek

As for us...we're going to pay the HOP folks for the rest of our Rose Parade package and then save the rest for fuel to get us part way to Pasadena for the parade Roll Eyes

So, part of our check went to Skips (hey, if we can't stimulate our fellow RVer's we shouldn't be RVing) and the other part to the oil companies...of course! Mickey Moose

There are four of use in our family with very different SS numbers and none of us has heard a word about a check. If this is the same people that say that we are going to get a 2.3% cola in Jan. when the true cola is about 6%, I will not hold my breath on getting our checks.

We paid several times the amount needed to qualify for a $1200 check, but it came and was a $600 check. When we put it in the bank the bank told us that people over 65 only get $300 apiece. Isn't that age discrimination? Thanks George Bush.

Hubby and I are retired, both 67, no earned income but do have some interest income, receive SS plus retirement checks monthly and we got $600 apiece. We each draw SS and retirement in our own names, maybe that makes some difference. My husband's sister and her husband's income status was about the same as ours except she draws off his SS, has no retirment in her name and they only got $300 apiece. My mom got $600, $300 of which was my Dad's who passed away in Jan.08..they hadn't filed an income tax form for over 15 years..go figure! I've about come to the conclusion that it all depends on who prepares the tax forms. I did both our's and mom's..they hired someone to do theirs..they got less plus had to pay the preparer.

As to what we did with it...cashed the check and used most of it for fuel getting out of Texas to head north to visit family!
