Well, let me see . . . on the morning of May 16th, our $1200 Stimulus Payment was in my bank account. By that afternoon, the McFalls had $815 of it for a PressurePro system. Later that afternoon, Flying J had the remaining $385 of it, along with $57.58 out of pocket for diesel fuel. So, less than twelve hours after I got up and "found" the money in the bank, it was gone and then some.

The moral of this story, I suppose, is that should they decide somewhere down the road that the "Stimulus Payment" program didn't work as well as had been hoped, IT'S NOT OUR FAULT!!!

I think you used it just like it was intended to be used. You saw something you wanted and you bought it..

DH & I are planning a modest week & 1/2 trip to "practice" fulltiming. I used the info garnered on this site to find a cheap campground with halfway decent reviews at $17.00/night including electric, near Muncie, Indiana where my family reunions will be in mid-June. We plan to meander our way back to Michigan for the H.I.M. (Hogs in Ministry) biker week sponsered by his mom's church the following weekend. It takes place at Springfield Oaks campground and our kids & grandkids will join us for the weekend, staying in tents. Our trailer spot will cost us $10.00/night including electric, a pig roast and an amazing show by a "flying" dirt bike performer. Often there are other meals donated by people in the church who own food businesses. Out of respect for the "no religion" rule, I'll refrain from telling about the best parts of the weekend, but we will be hearing from some former bad mean bikers that aren't bad anymore. If anyone is interested, there is a website for "Hogs In Ministry" that gives the details if you want to type it in.

In between I hope to experiment with boondocking at various relatives (safe, but a good learning shakedown experience).

Of course if gas get's much higher between now and then this may all go out the window, but that's how we plan to spend our stimulus check.

Hi Carl,

We got a letter in the mail from the IRS yesterday telling us to expect one around the end of this week or beginning of next week.

I have to wonder why they felt it necessary to send me a letter to tell me they'd be sending me a letter. I could retire on what they would have saved by just sending the checks in that first envelope and skipping the second altogether.

Let's just say I ain't holdin' my breath. I'll believe it when I have it in my grubby little fingers!

I got a letter like that the other day too. Seems like it would be cheaper to just have mailed me the check.

I can't help by wondering why it was announced over a month ago that the checks would be in the mail the next week and 175,000 people would be getting one. Never happened. I guess it is a case of "the checks in the mail."

Some people are not getting their checks until July. They are being sent out on a schedule based on the last numbers of your SS number.

We got ours this week and deposited it into the checking account. Will probably buy a HD TV and fill the bus fuel tank with the rest.

Based on my SSN my check should have been direct deposited weeks ago. No sign of it.

I DID get a check from the IRS for overpayment on my taxes. Now THAT was a nice surprise.

According to the schedule on the irs.gov site, ours was supposed to have been received (by direct deposit) no later than May 9...it actually showed up in our account May 21. From that, I'm assuming the actual checks will also be later than scheduled.

As to what we're doing with ours, it's hard to say--originally used it for having the carpet replaced with tile in the living room. Then we had to buy new tires for the MH. Now the toad needs a wheel bearing and tires. As a result, it seems we're spending it about 4 times!

Our stimulous check was deposited directly into our checking account on May 8. We don't plan on purchasing anything in particular, but it will sure help to partially opffset the increase in fuel prices.
