We just returned from a four week trip from NC to Alabama, Florida, Ga and SC and back home. One way we saved on gas was to use a WalMart gift card, most places saved up $0.03 per gallon. That's not a lot but after over 3,000 miles, it helped.

If anyone is interested, SC had the cheapest prices, if you consider $2.99 a gallon "cheap".

Folks they are hitting the oil, getting a flow a very high flow rate per day of new oil. This has been kept out of the news. We are not dry yet.

Do you think the owners are going to sell it at 1/2 price?
Who are the owners of the wells? Who puts up all the money for the re-drilling?

Glad to see your friend has a job in these times?

I don't think the oil company's are setting the price of crude oil. Check the market for that.

Energy analysts have said the turmoil in oil producing regions of the Middle East, including Iraq, is partly to blame for the surge in oil prices since 2003. Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz said the Iraq war itself had added $5 to $10 to the price of a barrel of crude.

The average price of crude oil in 2003, the first year of the Iraq war, was roughly $32.50 a barrel, an amount that more than doubled by 2007, when the average price was around $72.50 a barrel.

By March 17, 2008, the price of oil hit a record high of $111.80 a barrel.

A few weeks ago the very same info about west central Texas, I believe Midland-Odessa area. They don't have enough people to work the fields, they interviewed an attorney that has took off to work the fields because the money is so good, know full well this will drop off as it always does and these workers are salting away the money for the future. The real estate market is booming there.

One thing I forgot to add was that once the new well came and and the flow was determined, they capped the well and moved on to another one. They don't remove any of the crude. Rainy day money I guess.

I Have found that on east coast to midwest If you get a BP Chase credit card you pay no annual fee on card. You get 5% discount at BP green only facilities. This discount does not have a cap on amount that you can buy. It equates to .16 on gas to .20 on diesel fuel apoxx. you can get a check at every 25.00 dollars of credit. It adds up fast. Rich.

Dear Lord, lest I continue my complacent way, help me to remember that somewhere, somehow out there a man died for me today. As long as there be war, I then must ask and answer am I worth dying for? Elenor Roosevelt.

Talking about drilling and capping reminds me of something unusual. I live in Oregon and used to drive a truck. About over 20 years ago there was a two ton truck with a large metal plate under it and usually had a couple of other rigs running with it down the shoulders of almost every road in Oregon. I would see them everywhere. I asked at that time what they were doing and was told they were sounding for oil. banging that metal plate on the ground and taking some kind of reading. Then a few months later I would see drilling rigs and when asked I heard they found very little oil and the wells were capped. they said at that time it was too costly to pump. Does that ring bells with anyone?
