I see Bump on some of the postings - what does this mean?

Just someone trying to keep the topic at the top of the list so that it gets seen; i.e., they're "bumping" it up to the top.

There is another reason to bump. The SKP forums don't keep posts past a year or two or three now, so they are lost if not bumped. I just bumped a funny one, and found I had lost some funny and some technical articles I'd written on the forums since 2000. However on one other major RV forum, not RV.net, all posts are still there. But since it is rude to post a link to another forum, I repost here occasionally or bump because a lot of the time a prewritten article answers a lot of the same recurring questions. But now I have learned I need to save them to Word when I post here, not knowing when they will be deleted. Wink

For example; if you look I have 5487 (or perhaps 5488 after posting this post) posts to my credit here, but if you go to all my posts by clicking on that number, what remains are only 1917 of those. While many are just chat and friends, many were well researched posts with links to primary sources, that are gone now. Now that I know they are saving space, which is fine with me btw had I known, two choices are to bump or save every post to hard disk. Eventually I'll transition and put them all on my website. However my time is limited now so I would have to forego posting here, and miss my SKP friends and friends yet to be met. Not that mine are any better than any of the others. But some of mine and theirs were were helpful. And the same for all posters, not just me or the other oldtimers from the first days of SKP forums. One of our members made a program to save all the two or three years of the first forums, way before most of the folks here were posting, (Way before Mark came onboard as a mod and SKP employee!)with a very few exceptions, from the first forum before the first and second version of infopop, the program we now use, and I have all those on my hard drive. It would be nice to have the full resource here from the beginning, but that would be cost prohibitive, I am sure. Smile
