Ask this qustion on Ian's Board or on MAK's Board Be prepared for a "my bus is better than your bus" type discussion. Lots of good info at both of these sites.

We have lived fulltime in our MCI 8 for 6 years now and love it. You can see the entire conversion process at our website to give you an idea of the work involved.
I'd prefer a bigger, more powerful engine than our 8v71 and the MCI 9 and newer have better steering, but it can be upgraded in an MCI 8 for about $2,000 Gypsy Journal RV Travel Newspaper www.gypsyjournal.net Author of "Meandering Down The Highway, A Year On The Road With Fulltime RVers" and "Work Your Way Across The USA, You Can Travel & Earn A Living Too!" |

I think either the 6V92 or 8V92, but don't take that as gospel. Terry Simpson has an MCI 9 and he has the 6V92.

We have a member in our FMCA camping club who has put a Series 60 Detroit in his MC-9. He extended the length of the bus behind the drive axle by about two feet. I don't know the mechanics of how he did it, but, surely it was a major undertaking.

We've known a couple of people who put Series 60 engines in, and yes, it is a major task.
