There are two of these parked at the campground and they look like they could be good for conversion. I've never noticed one before but I've read about them. The are used for long-run bus/cargo routes in Europe. They have seats in the front, bunks on one side in the back and a cargo area on the other side.
You can see the front here, the bunk side here and the cargo side here In case you can't tell from the photo the bus is made by Mercedes. Roger 2001 Volvo 610 Autoshift 2007 Teton Frontier SKP #85000 See our pics at http://community.webshots.com/user/rlsmith017?vhost=community |

Could you tell me a little more about this kind of bus for possible conversion? How long is it, the type of engine, where is it located, how much are they asking for it, mileage, a place to read a little more about them? Thank you.

I didn't mean to imply that these are for sale - they are just sitting in the storage area at the campground. I just had never seen them before and thought that someone might like to see them.

This is a Rotel = Rolling Hotel tour bus.
http://www.rotel.de/rotel-tours/de/fahrzeuge.php A German Bus company out of a tiny bavarian town, that in the 1950s started with one bus and a sleeping trailer behind it and they made trips to the Near East especially the Jordanian side of Jerusalem. At that time, there were NO tourist accomodations available in those countries and the Rotel was the only reasonably priced means to visit there. Now they have tours basically all over the world. The sleeping quarters are like the "apartments" in a morgue, without the roll-out trays. The Rotel travellers are either young enough not to mind doing it with only a plywood veneer between the "bedrooms" or advanced enough in age to not have any carnal desires any more. The Rotel buses are pretty efficient and in the USA and Canada, they tend to take over the group camping areas of CGs. A typical tour 22 days Alaska with flight from Germany about 4500 USD http://www.rotel.de/rotel-tours/de/reise2008.php?Reisez...20-%20Alaska&Search= This message has been edited.
