Well, George....you and I have obviously travelled in different circles....I have known many military persons that didn't and don't have that belief. I have known several who have died in service to their country that did not have that belief.

Such a narrow-minded statement ignores totally those of other religions that have served and died for the country. Also ignores those who do not believe and who have served and died for their country.

It is not necessary to be a Christian or a believer in order to be a patriot and to love and be willing to die for your country.

Kellie....I sense that the restriction posed in the forum regarding posts on religion and politics may be judged by you based on whether you agree or disagree with the post, not any objective standard.

At least your posts here would indicate that bias.

Knew I'd get smoke on this,

~~~~ Please do not take this as a personal nor a general attack, it is not meant as such. I KNOW the difference in religious beliefs and in having them trampled. That was not my intent nor attempt and I do sincerely and truly apologize if you and any others that might have read it that way.
I may disagree with what you are saying, but I will defend until my death your right to say it.
Very well said. I do not have to respect what your beliefs are, only tolerate them, of which I do for all. If you do not believe as I, I do not ask that you respect my beliefs because they are in direct conflict with yours (as mine are with yours).
We all have this freedom to speak our minds.
I have defended this as having served and retired as a vet.(I am now a teacher)
My father was a vet.
My son is now serving overseas.
Freedom is what I served to protect and I have the utmost respect for those that continue to stand up and continue that fight.
I will tolerate your beliefs.
If you can not tolerate me than you can always leave but do not ask me to respect something that is wrong.
While I have met a few in the service who did not believe as I did, I did make and keep them as friends but they understood very clearly that I would give them no quarter on this subject.
To all God Bless and thank you for this thread.
We do not always agree on what is posted everyday. Personally, there are days when I would not hesitate to delete or edit a post; however, I have to separate myself from my personal self to a moderator. Big Grin
Eliot, no one is ignoring any other beliefs. There are several members on this forum that have different beliefs, and they understand that. There was a statement made by George:
quote:
I have never known any military person that didnt have that belief, possibly not as strong as some others, but they all beleived.
Did he make mention of what the belief was? No! Basically, we all know what he is referring to but this is when we learn to ignore if that is not your belief.
The mention of religion, politics and government is not against the rules; however, a discussion is not allowed. I try to be very fair, and if I am not then I hope that as mature adults we can compromise on the outcome. Smile
Let's get back on topic!
Hugs,
Kellie
Ah, there's one in every crowd.
