Have a 2 year old Dell Inspiron E1505 running XP OS. When I first boot up and Yahoo page comes I can not access anything on the screen. I can even E out of the page. I hit Ctrl, Alt, delete to get out. Then bring up IE again and all is well. I have scanned for nasty stuff using AVG and nothing shows up. I have cleaned the registry, deleted all tmp files, cookies, history. Any ideas on what the problem may be. I also am still having problems with my mouse scroll wheel also. I think it is time to replace it.

Ron,
Are you running an anti-spyware program? If not, I suggest Ad-aware,Spy Sweeper or SpyBot. If you are running one of them, try starting your computer in "Safe Mode" & then run your AVG & anti-spyware programs. To start your Dell in Safe Mode, tap the F8 key as your computer is booting up. Hope this helps, Mark PS. for more replies, you might post your question under the "computers and software" forum Mark & Sue---SKP#86611 '06 Int'l 4400LoPro 310hp 950ft-lbs.-Allison 3000TRV-3.70 gears '05 36' Teton Liberty '03 Honda Reflex ABS "Scoot" Pedalin'-Cannondale T1000(his)-'dale R1000(hers)-Santana Ti700 Tandem(ours) w/B.O.B. trailer for the long hauls www.picasaweb.google.com/msbryer |

There is probably nothing really wrong with the hardware on your computer. Something is just a bit messed up software wise. But most new computers come with Vista so I would advise figuring out what is up and fixing what you have.

If you would like, I can send you a URL that will allow me to connect to your computer and troubleshoot it.
Your mouse problem may be the mouse driver. Make sure the driver you are using is for your mouse. You can also go to My Computer, Right-Click the C: drive and selct properties. Select the Tools tab. Select Check Now. Click to select both the available options. Select Start. When you restart, the computer will completely check your hard drive, attempt to fix bad segments and bring your registery up to date. This will take a while and should be done once a month, along with cleanup. and Defrag. My Defrag and Cleanup are automatically scheduled daily. |
