I replaced my toilet and found that the floor flange in the MH was not positioned to mount the new toilet. The existing flange is glued to the 3" drain pipe connected to the black tank that is also glued to black tank so cannot remove flange or 3" pipe to replace . What can I do to replace the flange? I have a Tropical MH from National so can't call them to get tech help. Thanks

Hi,

Just a couple of suggestions.

Go to a real plumbing supply store [Not Lowes etc.] Bring in your sizes of pipe and ask them what to do. They might have devices [universal flanges] that solve the problem.

Some people have used multiple gaskets [wax rings]to take up slack. Don't forgt to ask a large RV service center in your area. [If you have one.] They may give you the benefit of their expertise. Also look for a mobile repair co. that would come out to your location and fix the problem. Some problems are better left to the pros. JOHO

Keep makin' happy tracks,

There are flange adaptors made to solve that problem. HD should have them.

The flange may be glued as you said but many (most?) are screwed on. They can be tough to unscrew sometimes.

Like Jack said there is a closet flange repair kit made of two metal sections that should work if the flange is glued on.
As I recall the sections slide under and over the existing flange and are screwed to the floor through the existing flange.

Well Bill, you jinxed me Smile After my answer to you - this morning my toilet bit the dust and I had to buy a new one....not worth repairing, and I can't wait 7 days for the parts.

Had to put in a flange adaptor to get the new toilet down.....

Clay is correct. I just saw one this afternoon in ACE hardware and that is how it was made. There are some that are only about 1/2 of the flange and other kits provide both halves.

My philosophy is that if part has already broken the rest will probably break, too, so if I can head that off by reinforcing the whole flange with some steel parts to do just that, then I should not have to fuss with it again.

BTW, Jack, I just had to put in a complete repair seal kit in my Thetford Aurora. Did not get the right goo in the right place and had to pull it again today, to reseal the ceramic to valve seal. This time I used Permatex RTV clear. I know that stuff works well... and it did.

To be honest, I was really hoping to justify just replacing the toilet with an Aria but I knew that DW would challenge my logic of justification..(a $60 kit versus a $600 toilet).. after all, she's not the one wearing the nitril gloves with her face down in places its not designed to go So my unit of worth for the job makes it about an even money proposition.

I just wrap my 300 lb body around a toilet bowl inside of a cigar box when just trying to loosen/tighten the flange bolts. Heck, my kitchen cupboards are more spacious than this KOTR bathroom.
