It's in Mission Texas. There are I believe 13 HDT owners that have now purchased lots here. Look for Bill Bevingtons posts for more info

Looks like fun.... we are working on the bus for our Dec 1st departure to the Valley.

Maybe some "outsiders" can be invited to future Happy Hours?

Oh --- stay tuned for our first Monthly lunch gathering. Most likely in McAllen....

I can see some liver issues by the time the spring thaws arrive. It's a good thing that they did not put curbs around those pads. It will be easier to wash the BS down the street that must be pilling up every afternoon.

Left Retama this morning for Harlingen (spelling?) to meet up with Kathy and Rich. Thanks for the hospitality. Wish we could have had a tour, but maybe another time.
For those still there, starting Thursday through Saturday down here at the beach they are having a huge sand castle building contest in case you'd like to come over. We will now be here for a week instead of overnight. Big Grin

We wish we were retired and down there with you - it was 25 degrees here this morning...

Texas attracted 6.8 percent of America’s migrant retirees in the 2005 data, up from 4.8 percent in 2000. Florida’s share is much higher but shrinking. It drew 16.6 percent of retirees in 2005, down from 19.1 percent in 2000... “If Texas ever devoted the right resources to selling itself as a retirement destination, the results would be enormous,” [consultant Gene] Warren said. —“Texas Leaps to No. 2 as Place to Retire,” Dallas Morning News, May 29, 2007

Retama Village in the near future.

Two headlines caught my eye in that article.

quote:
Will an influx of retirees make Texas the first sovereign republic of old farts?

quote:
GEEZER NATION
Give me your old, your arthritic, your wrinkled masses yearning to be in bed by eight.

From the "strenuous activity" pictured herein I expect numerous cases of elbow bursitis, either right or left depending on whether the the person using the elbow is either right or left handed.

I on the other hand developed the right elbow bursitis the old fashion way, like a "real man", shoveling snow.

Henry,

Real men shovel snow.
Real smart men drive south.

I hear it got above freezing there today. Seriously.

Barely got to 80 here today, kinda windy though, and no bugs.

Lesson one: Cerveza Por Favor.

Mark, we had a mini thaw yesterday and 2 inches of rain (some flooding in the cellar). Today the crap froze.
Jim, I'm beginning to be concerned about the RDBE Mistress obtaining some legal advice. The under current being that "wintering in New England could meet the legal definition of spousal abuse"
Jack, I don't know how far west we'll be going this year, but if I'm within day's drive I'll see you.
