I am planning a trip to Douthat State Park VA in October. I would like to return via the Blue Ridge Parkway. I have a 23 ft. Trailer and tow with a Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel. I would like to drive no more than 2-3 hours per day. Time is no constraint, but I'd like to get an idea about how long it would take me, whether there are there ample/easy to find campgrounds (I will be alone so would like the safety of a campground at night.) , and whether the highway is as difficult to drive as some have told me. Since my trailer is on the small size, I don't think I'll have much trouble, but if any of you have traveled the road I'd appreciate any information/advice you would like to share. I've ordered the book by Nye Simmons "The Best of the Blue Ridge Parkway". Any other suggested resources would be appreciated, as well.
