Well we made it to Hinton today from Banff and it sure is nice to see the sun again. While we were in Banff we had rain every day. We did get to see the mountains one day for all of ten minutes. We are at the KOA in Hinton and will head out tomorrow to Grande Prairie or Dawson Creek. Hope to catch up with some of you rabbits in front of us. These two turtles are still just enjoying everything that appears along the road. Have safe travels and we will see you in Alaska some day soon.

The Klondike Highway and Dawson City are well worth taking and I wouldn't treat it as a Alaska RV trip without them. We plan to spend more time in Dawson next time we go, we didn't get enough of the place in 2006.

Howdy everyone,

We just arrived at the River's Edge RV Park in Fairbanks (Space B4) and have decided to stay until driving down to Denali on 6/1. A lot of local activities began operations for the summer this weekend so there is a lot to see and do in the area.

Safe travels everyone!!

Larry and Joan,

The roads are fine until Burwash Landing on Kluane Lake...after that, don't fret, just drive slowly. Although the worst is over at the Alaska border, don't get lulled to sleep. There are some areas of frost heaves on the way to Tok, and some are not as well marked as on the Canadian side.

If you can, stay one night at Cottonwood RV Park just south of Destruction Bay. That really cuts down on the long day drive from Whitehorse all the way to Tok. This is a nice little park right on Kluane Lake with fantastic views.

Take care...and safe travels!

Gordon and Juanita

Between Dawson Creek, BC and Watson Lake, YT is a really nice little campground at Toad River Lodge and RV Park. Fantastic views with a resident Moose and her calf who frequent the campground lake.

I may have misspoke when I asked about the Klondike Loop. I was referring to the Top of the World Highway. It is the "back way" into Chicken and Tok. From Dawson City we are taking Rt 9 (Top of the World Highway) towards Chicken instead of staying on the Alaska Highway.

Safe travels everyone. Take your time and enjoy the views.

Howdy all,

We have completed our six night visit in Fairbanks and had a great time getting informed about life in Alaska at the University of Alaska Museum of the North and on the Riverboat Discovery.

We are on our way to Denali in a few minutes and will arrive in Palmer for four nights beginning Tuesday afternoon.

Everyone stay safe and take it easy...we look forward to seeing y'all!

Howdy everyone!

We've been following along and are now in Whitehorse for repairs. Met up with Gary & Karen in Dawson Creek where we developed a water leak. Found the leak, it was the hot water tank. First place we could have it replaced was in Whitehorse.

We'll be back on the road Monday toward Tok. Thanks for all the information everyone has provided. Hope to see everyone down the road.

I am in Spokane,Wa. getting some solar panels added and will be crossing the Canadain border about the 5th or 6th at Osoyoos on Hwy. 97 then up 3, 5a, 8,1and back to 97. Anyone been through that route, good or bad?
Thanks to you who are ahead and the reports you are posting, they are very informative to those of us coming along behind you. Look for a dark copper ford f250 king ranch pulling a Airstream with USA Roamer on the back window. I will be on channel 19 of the CB radio. Everyone is invited to my big 70 birthday celebration in Denali on July 23. Hope to see some of you there.

The mosquitoes are not too nice through the rest of BC and the Yukon, but we have been bug free in both Fairbanks and now in Denali.

We're moving on down the road to Palmer tomorrow and will stay for four nights before heading down to the Kenai for the entire summer.

We hope to meet you sometime once you get in the area.

Safe travels,

Gordon and Juanita

We just rolled into Carmacks, YT. on the Klondike Loop. Nice little RV Park at Carmacks Hotel and RV Park. Good strong WiFi signal. Full hook up 30A pull thru site on the river is $23.63.

Temperature today is 63 and sunny.

We talked to the Information Center in Whitehorse and they called Dawson City to find out road conditions on the Klondike Loop and Top of The World Highway. They told us that the road from the Alaska border to Chicken (gravel portion) has been graded and is in good shape. The rest is paved and in good shape.

Gas prices in Whitehorse are $5.219/ gallon.

Travel safe everyone. Enjoy the trip.
