Need to know if anyone has gotten diesel fuel on highway 180 from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon. We are going to be traveling from Sedona, AZ to the Grand canyon then onto Durango, Co. Will need to find diesel fuel along this route. Have not been able to find any info sources that gives locations of truck stops or stations. If I fill up around the Grand Canyon, I will be able to get into Cortez or Durango.

Thanks for the help.

Wander-N-Bill,

We were just up that way a couple of months ago. We did not take the 180. we took the 89 up and then the 64.

We filled up with diesel at the Safeway in Flagstaff. Then we took the 64/180 south out of the park. Just as you exit the park there is a little town called Tusayan. They have diesel fuel there but I suspect it is very expensive.

You will probably be going the reverse of our route. We've also been on the 160 into the Cortez area. I do not remember there being very much business activity along that road. Perhaps someone who has been along that route recently can tell you something about it. If that is the route you'll be taking.

Beautiful country. Enjoy.

I'm going to assume that once you leave the Grand Canyon, you'll take SR-64 out of the Park, US-89 north to US-160 and US-160 into Colorado.

If this is, indeed, the route you are taking, you will find diesel in Tuba City, Kayenta, and in Teec Nos Pos.

Thanks for your replies. Gives me a feeling of relief!

Yes we will be taking 64 - 89- 160. I couldn't remember seeing much of anything out in the Northern AZ area Last time I went through there.

No services on 180 until the junction of route 64. Then some very expensive fuel all the way into Tusayan, and GCNP.
If you follow 64 to the Navajo nation, there is diesel at Cameron. That should definitely get you to Durango.
