First of all the people are friendly and really eager for the Escapade to be here. We've had great success in getting some really good door prizes.

Hwy 59 or Douglas Avenue (Exit 126 on I-90) is under construction south of I-90. Of course this is where Flying J, Wal*Mart and K-Mart are located. It is do-able to get thru but it will take some time, so be patient.

Cenex and Maverick also have gas, diesel and propane so they might be a better choice than Flying J. Price is within 1 or 2 cents and it is a lot easier to get in and out. Cenex is north on Douglas Ave and Maverick is on Hwy 14-16 at the 128 exit.

Wal*Mart and K-Mart share a parking lot that is crowded most of the time. Both campgrounds in the area are full so your best bet might be to find somewhere an hour or two away for your overnight before coming to Escapade.

If you have any questions, I'll try to find the answer.

We are looking forward to Escapade, but are a little concerned about the lack of RV parks near Gillette. We will be coming in from Golden,Colorado.

Is there a nearby town with only one post office/zip code?

Thanks

Douglas is 3.25 hrs south at Wyoming 59 and I-25 and has a KOA one exit away from WY59.
FYI
Safe travels - we will be headed up from Centennial, CO

Emptynesters - thanks for the info - very useful!

The main Post Office is easy to get to and only about 1 mile from the CAM-PLEX at 311 S Kendrick AVE, Gillette, WY 82716
Business Hours
MO 07:00-05:30PM
TU 07:00-05:30PM
WE 07:00-05:30PM
TH 07:00-05:30PM
FR 07:00-05:30PM
SA 09:30-01:00PM

We will have a Gillette map on the bulletin boards with the Post Office, Hospital and other important places indicated.

There is an Escapee Discount park in Kaycee if you want to stay on interstate highways. With so many SKPs coming to Gillette it would be a good thing to call ahead where every one plans to stop.

My wife and I are staying overnight at the KOA in Douglas. Having never driven in this area before, traveling up Wyoming Hwy 59, will it take us 3.25 hours to reach Gillette? Rand-McNally mapping program showed that Douglas and Gillette were only 115 miles apart. Confused

For those of you coming into town via HWY 59 or Hwy 14 or 16 here are some ways to avoid the construction:

From the south on 59 - turn right on Garner Lake Road on the south side of Gillette - that will take you to the CAM-PLEX on your right.

From the north on 14/16: Stay on 14/16 (2nd Street) and turn at Garner Lake Road just as if you were exiting I-90 at exit 129. Follow it to the CAM-PLEX on your left.

Again the construction on Douglas Hwy (59) at exit 126 is do-able -- just be patient and it would probably not be a good idea to hit it at rush hour.

Hi:

The drive up Wyoming Highway 59 from Douglas to Gillette is marvelous. It is very good two lane road. You only go through a couple small towns. There are no steep grades. You're almost sure to see deer, antelope, bison, and maybe even Yogi! Bud drove the Club 18 wheel truck up that way. Don't miss it.

skp Hugs
