It has been a while since I visited the forum - but I see many hits to our website from this forum so I know there is interest in volunteering in the aftermath of Katrina here in Mississippi

At this time we will have 17 hookups next to the beach in Pass Christian for RV's for those that would like to come down and volunteer. We just negotiated that arrangement and will have this new volunteer camp up and running in the next month. We are very excited about this new development.

Three years in the aftermath - we still only have about 20% of the houses rebuilt and we have a long, long, long way to go.

We can use volunteers with any skill set - just not construction. Office work is just as important as anything as is the work here on camp and in the warehouse keeping track of the tools.

If you are interested in volunteering - you can visit our website at:

My family spent January volunteering with Kathleens' group. I was a very rewarding experience. The gratitude in the eyes of the Waveland folks made it worthwhile. These are good folks who's luck has run out. I would encourage anyone, no matter your skills to stop in for a time. You will come away with a true appreciation of how good life has been to you! Kathleen is an amazing person who has devoted herself to her charity with these fine folks. When I last posted on this subject the flames were pretty bad, if you think it's not something wothwhile I doubt if you will get anything from it.

Was not sure where to post this - but I am out here in the Gulf volunteering and I have stripped out my older Allegro and came across this part in the engine that needs replacing as the rubber has rotted off it while I had it parked here for 2.5 years (the Allegro runs great only 48,000 miles). This part is attached by a rod to the accelerator lever.

If I can get the part name or function - I can order one and put back in.

So, who out there is wiser about these things than I?

Hi Kathleen. It appears to be a vacuum assist of some sort. Isn't there someone in the area that could offer to attempt to repair it for you? It seams that with all the volunteer work being done and also the locals there that somebody would make a free offer. I wish you all the best.

Does the Allegro have cruise control? It may be the vacuum actuator.
