I believe I'll be volunteering at Dinosaur Nat'l Monument this summer. Anyone volunteered there before? How was your experience?

If you decide to be at Dinosaur, do yourself a favor, on a day off, and drive up to the Green River. You would take highway 191 to Dutch John. (About 45 miles-lots of switchbacks). The canyon is spectacular. There is a 7 mile hiking trail along the river that goes from below the Flaming Gorge Dam to Little Hole. (These two places are the only access to the river.) The entry at the dam is really steep so if you only want to hike part of the way you might want to consider going down to Little Hole and walk up. There is a good overlook spot on the way to Little Hole. (You can walk part or all of the trail.) You can watch huge fish (water is gin clear), do some wildlife watching, etc. (Of course you can wade fish from the bank if you want.) Take your golden age pass or equivalent. (You won't need to pay for parking if you have that.) Lots of campgrounds and picnic areas around. (Don't plan on buying fuel there - prices are at least $.50 per gallon above market.) We spent two summers in Dutch John.
