Hey Class of 2012,

Just had the most amazing vacation of my life. Sadly it was not in the 5er, just not enough vacation days for that. But, we spent 17 days in Alaska. What a great preview to what is ahead of us for our fulltiming lifestyle.

After reading everyone's posts about their trips to Alaska I had high expectations and was worried that these high expectations would leave me dissapointed once I got there. I should not have worried, it was fantastic!

Any vacation I have been on I got all I wanted of whatever it was we were doing and was ready to go home and get back to work and rest up. But this trip was different, my wife and I both noticed that when we were within a couple of days going home that we were actually getting depressed thinking about leaving.

We spent 10 days driving ourselves around the interior in a rent car and the last 7 days on a cruise. The cruise, and it was my first, was great but nothing compared to our time just driving wherever we wanted to go and seeing what we wanted to see.

2012 really looks slow in comng now. But I do know where my first (and hopefully many more) summer will be spent.

Hi Jperry,

Keep your eye on the prize!! You will be amazed at how fast that last several years will go by when you have your sights set on something like Alaska.

This is our first taste of the spectacular scenery and wonderful people in Alaska...certainly won't be our last!

I appreciate my friend Steve giving our journal a plug. We are having a great time sharing our experiences on a daily basis and always enjoy inspiring others to join in on the full timing fun...in Alaska or anywhere else.

Hang in there...maybe we'll see you if we make our return trip in 2012!! Smile

Safe travels,

Gordon and Juanita

Gordon and Juanita,

I have been reading your blog ever since Steve told me about it. I am just about caught up with you real-time. I just finished your June-3 post when the site went down and I switched over to this forum.

From my reading perspective you are just getting into the territory that we spent the bulk of our time; Chugach Mtns, Anchorage, Palmer, Eagle, Seward and other points in the south-east.

Having just been there I am thoroughly enjoying your posts, especially the pictures. I took over 1300 shots in 17 days, it is amazing that you see a fantastic view no matter which way you look. Seeing yours and reading your narrative has let me extend a vacation that ended way too soon.

Keep the shiny side up and have fun.

We went to the RV-Dreams rally last week and found out we can easily get on the road 2 years sooner. So we'll be going from class 2012 to 2010. Amazing how fast things can change. It's not set in gold, but we're going to the Escapees bootcamp next summer. I wish everyone luck on getting on the road. See you soon, in a park of your choice.

Jim & Dee,

Congrats on figuring out a way to advance your plans a couple of years. Is it possibly something you can share so the rest of us can do it too Big Grin?

As of today it is only 1240 more days until 2012! So far yet so close.

Far in that this is a bunch of days. So close in that the economy has to hurry up and recover so my house will be worth enough and my investments recovered to the point I can afford to go as planned.

I'm counting on everything working out.

I saw posts where several people had gone from 2012 to 2010. I wish.
