Charts like these are handy for deciding on temps.

My favorite site for weather information (and a whole lot more) is http://www.city-data.com/. You just enter the name of a city and you get all kinds of demographic information. You have to scroll down through that stuff but then you get several weather graphs: one has a line for the daily high, average, and low temperatures by month; one has the percent of humidity (morning and evening); one has the number of inches of rain; one shows average wind speed; one has percent of sunshine; and one has the percent of clear, partly cloudy, cloudy, and days with precipitation.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you find a great place to get away from the Ontario winter!

Thanks Mary for the information. Being human I enjoy getting a look at the weather forcast.
My wife janet would like to travel to an Easten State other than Florida for our first attempt at camping in what I call the winter months. I understand that even Northern Flolrida can have freezing conditions so I would like to see what the tempreature range is between November and March.
Regards
Brian

Brian, many of the southern states do have an occasional freeze, but by mid morning the tempreatures have risen to a comfortable level. And in most cases it will be 60 or at least the upper 50's by noon. At my winter stop in Louisiana, it does get a bit chilly occasionally, but I do see others walking around in shorts the year round. george

Hi and thanks for your response.
I think that one of the issues staht I want to learn about this. I have an image (correct or not?) that there are RV camgrounds where there are communities of people that stay for longer term camping in the winter months. This is whar we are looking for.
We have two sets of friends, one of them totally new to rving, who plan to be social rv. butterflies across the Souther States and to eventually camp in
Arizona or Texas for a time in the winter and then to keep on camping furhter North slowly following Springtime.
As yet this is not for us. We would like to find a good, comfortable camground for the winter here we can meet others. It should also allow us reasonable access back to Canada if needed to respond to my wife's mother who is now 87.
Jan is a little nervous about campin on the coast due to hurricanes and I am senitive about being inland where there may be freezing weather and few RV'ers in community. Would you have a perspective on this?
Regards

I think you should just hop in the rig and head south any time you want without a care in the world. There is absolutely no reason to have any concerns. You will quickly find many Canadians and northern US folks wandering around the south during the winter months.

What are your specific concerns? We probably cannot help you out if you have money concerns but with the US dollar in the tank your exchange rate is looking good.

Please stick around and ask all the questions you want.

Look all across the southern states (except for higher altitudes) and you'll find parks full of longer term visitors. You can hit freezing temps anywhere, Phoenix got down to the 20s a while back when a big storm blew in.

Hi again Brian,

I’m wondering if you’re a French speaking CDN? We wintered in St. Petersburg, FL a few years ago and the park we stayed at had a large winter population of CDN folks from Ontario. Most all of them also spoke English and we had a lot of fun times while there. ( http://www.robertsrv.com/ ).

Brian, many people use the Myrtle Beach area for winter rving. Most are from New York and Canada. I-95 is 1 hour and twenty minutes from Ocean Lakes. Yes, it can freeze in this area, but usually it is for a night or two. Just make sure to unhook the water and you should be fine. Before we bought our place at Ocean Lakes, we were in our MH for Jan and Feb and had no problems. Needless to say, the temps in Myrtle Beach in the winter will seem warm to you. We have also wintered in Ft Myers Florida in the winter and the temps were as cold as in Myrtle Beach. No one can predict the temps any area is going to have in the winter so every area can have some freezing. As far as hurricanes - season ends in November so no problem there.

My reference to other Canadians has to do with Canadian specific issues, such as health insurance, length of time "out of country", etc. Issues that we, as predominately US Citizens, do not have to know, worry, abide by.

Hello Jack; Danielle;
Well changes never cease to occur. Two frieds sopped in last night and they day that they want to purchsae a small used airstream and accompany us in October to South Carolina.
In conversatoin with Janet she agreed wiht them that rather than look at any one camground for a long term site to do some travelling especially in the new year once we all return.
I was more than surprised but will have more conversations with Janet and friends to determine what escape route they are thinking of. Membership is now a most probable outcome.

Good morning
May I ask if you use your trailer in the winter to travel and if so where do you go/camp?
Some friends of ours came over the other night and spoke of their desire to purchase a used airstream and to join us in our first winter trip south.
Janet, my wife agreed with them in that it would be good to go to several campgrounds; to do some 'touristing' so to speak. This was news to me as I thought that we were looking for a community type experience but hey, I am flexible.
In your experience, do many actually travel across the Southern States in January and February?
Regards
Brian

There is no problem running east to west in the winter. We do it every winter. Fla to Az and stops inbetween.

Brian, the simple answer is yes. Many move east to west or north to south some as late as after Christmas in the north. On the highways and interstates, you will see Rv's of all sorts heading hither and yound. george
