Good Day

Do you know who said this?

"Democracy, is two wolves and a lamb voting on what they are going to eat for lunch. Liberty, is a well armed lamb contesting the vote!"

Any Idea who said this?

I believe it was Benjamin Franklin.

Pretty cool Sean. I Googled Bill's question and the answer you gave came up in 0.19 seconds. So you have about 30 hours until the fourm moderator sees your clever post and deletes it. Razz

Huh? What's wrong with Googling something? Isn't that the same as when, every time we kids would ask my dad something he didn't want to answer, he'd tell us to go look it up in the encyclopedia? Gosh, how I hated that set of books! Google, now.... well, that's a different matter... I LOVE GOOGLE!

Right, Lee. And remember when you'd ask how to spell a certain word and the teacher or your parents would say to look it up in the dictionary? Well, holy cow. If I knew where to find it in the dictionary, that would mean I already knew how to spell it.

That actually worked for me--once! I was looking for the word for those chair things where people carry you on their shoulders. I thought it started with P and had a Q in it somewhere but that's all. So I opened the dictionary to P and there was a picture of it! It's a palanquin if I remember correctly. I've never forgotten that experience.

Oh, yah, Bev, my Dad sent us stomping off for the dictionary, too, but what he didn't know was that, by the time I was around 12 years old, I'd discovered that the dictionary could be a real source of education..... how many 'age inappropriate' words do you think a 12-year-old will find in a dictionary?!! Let me answer that one for ya.... WAY more than my Dad thought possible!! I still love dictionaries.... the first 'home warming gift' Kenny & I bought for our casita in Mazatlan was a full-size dual language dictionary, the size we'd find in libraries... and I still use it.

Badwater Bill.... y'all didn't tell us it was a closed book test, or I would've cut that class!! Cool Lee

Since I have read no less than 4 books on the man, and study the founding fathers of this country regularly, it wasn't real hard to come up with.

I'm not sure what in the hell the comment is about being pretty cool but it is pretty cool in and of itself isn't it?

Hi Sean, its refreshing to hear that you have studied our founding fathers of this country.
I commend you. To bad more people don't follow your example.

As to the remark "pretty Cool" I didn't make it.
Carl did, and I took it to mean he was complimenting you.

I took it to mean something different but I have been known to be off in my perspective from time to time.

Here's one of my favorite by Dr. Ben...

"Those who can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Unfortunately, I think that quote is becoming more and more relevant with today's U.S.

Sean you and Bill were both right. Your answer to Bill's question and the link to your business was real clever. the last part of my post that you have a question about, came from my thought that your business link would lead to questions and answers about your business which is not tolerated on this forum. That is why I thought that your post may be removed when the moderators came back on Monday. None of that happened and all ended well. Smile

I didn't understand because my signature has been that way since January and that was the first time it had been a problem.

It should be in compliance now.
